Abstract (English):
Russian Federal Penitentiary Service University hosted the X All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Interaction of the Russian Orthodox Church and the penal system of the Russian Federation" on June 27, 2025 in St. Petersburg on the initiative of the Department of Educational, Social and Psychological Work of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Synodal Department of the Russian Orthodox Church for Prison Ministry. The event discussed various issues related to the current state of prison ministry in places of detention, as well as the immediate prospects for the development of the church's prison mission. Special attention was paid to the activities of Orthodox clergymen who fill the positions of assistant chiefs for work with believers in pre-trial detention centers, as well as the topic of pastoral care and rehabilitation in institutions of the penal system of persons who participated in a special military operation.
