The article examines the victimological features that manifest themselves in the process of penitentiary crime. The determinants of the victimological nature of penitentiary crime are classified, namely the key determinants of a legal and organizational nature. The factors contributing to the commission of crimes by convicts are analyzed, the problematic sides are noted. The features of the victim component in the causal complex of penitentiary crime are revealed. It is proposed to intensify scientific research in the field of victimization of crime of convicts, as well as measures of operational investigative prevention of crime caused by the victimization of a potential victim
