The article examines the scientific contribution of Vitaly Grigorievich Deev (1930-2000), Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, one of the founders of the Ryazan penitentiary psychological and pedagogical scientific school, to the formation and development of Russian penitentiary psychology
