The theoretical foundations of the concept of psychological readiness are considered, its structure and factors influencing the formation process are analyzed. Effective ways and means of its development within the framework of training in educational institutions of the FPS of Russia have been identified. The key components of psychological readiness, such as motivational, cognitive, emotional and volitional, as well as types of readiness (general and situational) are considered. The importance of psychological readiness for the successful performance of official duties in conditions of extreme activity is discussed, with special emphasis on the importance of training cadets to act in such conditions. The main factors influencing the formation of psychological readiness have been identified. They are: the educational environment, professional motivation, psychological stability and the socio-psychological climate. Active teaching methods, including trainings and business games, as well as the role of psychological support in educational institutions of the FPS of Russia, are considered as key ways of forming readiness.
