The author of the article reflects on the phenomenon of social success of a personality, its socio-psychological determinants, the peculiarities of interpretation by modern students, analyzes the ideas of young people about the essence and manifestations of social success in a market model of public relations, talks about the risks and contradictions of gaining social success of a personality in college age. The article presents the results of empirical research reflecting the student youth's understanding of the phenomenon of social success of personality, the problem of the influence of the external socio-cultural environment on the formation of youth's ideas about human social success, emphasizes the role of socially demanded work, professionalism, skill in assessing social success of personality, focuses on the need to form a value attitude of youth to work as a factor of social success of personality and the most important indicator in assessing such success. The author notes the difficulties of the existential self-determination of youth in the conditions of a market model of society, the choice of goals and meanings of their own existence by young people, understanding the essence and criteria of a person's social success.
