The article examines the peculiarities of psychological and pedagogical training of cadets of educational organizations of the FPS of Russia, who are trained to serve in the departments of educational work with convicts directly serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty. The relevance of the research topic is due to the challenges and prospects for the development of the FPS of Russia. In the process of training cadets studying for further service in educational work units with convicts, special attention is paid not only to the professional skills and knowledge that they should receive in the learning process, but also to the formation of their understanding of the psychological characteristics of convicts, which, in turn, requires the teaching staff of educational organizations of the Federal Penitentiary Service Russia has a special approach to the learning process and the development of innovative teaching methods. Within the framework of psychological and pedagogical training, cadets study the basic principles of psychology and pedagogy of convict education, as well as gain practical skills and skills to work with this category of persons. It follows from this that the psychological and pedagogical training of cadets of the FPS of Russia plays an important role in the formation of highly qualified specialists who are able to effectively build the educational process in a correctional institution.
