The article examines the psychological and pedagogical aspects of the influence of an investigator's beliefs on his professional activity in the system of professional competence. His rights and obligations as one of the main participants in the evidence at the stage of the preliminary investigation are disclosed. Legislative, practical and tactical measures are proposed to improve his professional competence. Beliefs are a state of the psyche based on the unity of the emotional, rational, semantic and spiritual statuses of a personality, and form the most important modes of the human reality of a professional. Professional self-awareness is identified in professional beliefs. The article examines the psychological, pedagogical and normative aspects of the development of an investigator's beliefs in the process of professional training and the specifics of their impact on his professional activities.
