The article examines the development of patriotism among cadets of educational organizations of the Federal Penitentiary Service at the present stage of society development. One of the main aspects of the development of patriotism is culturological. Patriotic education defines the dominant functions of forming conscious personal behavior, readiness to fulfill civic duty and protect the interests of one's country, national security, as well as personal patriotism, which manifests itself as an active personal and responsible social position of a person. Attention is also focused on the special importance of patriotism for future employees of the penal system. The main directions of development, pedagogical conditions for the formation of patriotism among cadets are determined. The ways of forming patriotism are considered. A pedagogical model for the development of patriotism of cadets is proposed.
